Privacy

This page explains what information Injera World handles and why. The short version: we only use analytics cookies if you say yes, and we never ask for your name or email.

Who is responsible

Injera World is run by Haile Trading GmbH, Universitätstrasse 23, 8006 Zürich, Switzerland. For any privacy question, write to hello@injeraworld.com.

Suggesting a place

When you use the suggestion form, we receive what you type: the name, city and country of a place, what it offers, and any website or notes you add. We also record which page you came from. We use this only to check and update the list. The form does not ask for your name or email, so please do not include personal details in the notes.

Suggestions are stored in a Google spreadsheet through Google Apps Script. Google (Google Ireland Limited, and Google LLC in the United States) processes this on our behalf, and your browser shares your IP address with Google when you send the form.

Visitor statistics (Google Analytics)

If you click “Accept” on the cookie notice, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages, searches and links people use, so we know what to improve. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and receives your IP address, your browser and device type, the pages you view, the searches you make on the site and the links you select. We do not use it for advertising and do not combine it with other information.

Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited, and the data may be processed by Google LLC in the United States. If you click “No thanks”, or make no choice, Google Analytics is not loaded and nothing is sent to Google. You can change your mind at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.

Your location

If you press “Use my location”, your browser works out the distance to nearby cities on your own device. Your location is never sent to us or stored.

Maps

Map images are loaded from OpenStreetMap’s servers, run by the OpenStreetMap Foundation. Your browser shares your IP address with them to load the map. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation’s privacy policy for details.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Hostinger. Like any web host, its servers keep short-lived technical logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to keep the site running and secure.

Stored in your browser

The site remembers a few things in your browser: your cookie choice, and one display setting (for example, whether you last viewed the United States by state or by metro area). These stay on your device and are not used to track you.

Links to other sites

Where a place has its own website, or a Facebook or Instagram page, its name links there. Every place also has a Map link that opens it on Google Maps. Those sites are run by others and have their own privacy practices; nothing is sent to them until you select a link. If you accepted Google Analytics, it records which of these links you select.

Your rights

You can ask what information we hold about you and ask for it to be corrected or deleted by writing to hello@injeraworld.com. You can also complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, if you live in the EU or UK, to your local data protection authority.
